Strike warning

by Gregor Prajs on 03/10/2014

Dear parents,

The trade unions and staff associations of the Commission have issued a strike warning for Friday 10, Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 October 2014.

In the event of confirmation of the strike, the Day Nursery (Garderie) and Study and leisure centre will be open. Both structures are managed by the Commission (OIL) and a significant number of staff may participate in the strike.

The service will be provided, but in case of absence of some staff, it might not be possible to operate the two structures at full capacity. We therefore invite parents who could make other arrangements for that day to do so as far as possible.

Sincerely,

The CPE team

Dear parents,

Some of you have contacted the administration of the CPE with a question concerning the departure of children from the CPE/European school on the long school days. Please find bellow some clarifications.

  • The children of the Nursery school who use the shuttle or a school bus at 16h45 on Mondays do not go to the CPE that day. They are brought to the bus leaving from school by the staff of the school directly after the lessons.
  • The children of the Primary school who use the shuttle or a school bus at 16h45 on Mondays and/or Wednesdays do not go to the CPE on those days either. They are also brought to the bus leaving from school by the staff of the school directly after the lessons.
  • The only exceptions to that rule are
    • for families whose youngest child attends the Garderie full-time (the child is not yet in the European school). If the parents wish the elder child (or children) to join their younger brother(s) and/or sister(s) on the same bus leaving from the CPE at 16h45, the elder sibling(s) is(are) allowed to do so and therefore comes to the CPE.
    • The same principle applies on Wednesdays for families with one (or more) child(ren) in the Garderie and the other(s) in the Study Centre. The elder child(ren) can come to the CPE to join the brother(s) and/or sister(s) on the bus leaving at 16h45 from the CPE.

The children registered for the shuttle at 16h45 and participating in an activity organised by the CPE, take automatically the shuttle at 18h00 that day. Their brothers or sisters could also take this shuttle to be able to travel together. In this case, their parents should inform in advance the educators of their children and send an e-mail  to the functional mailbox of the CPE (cpe@ec.europa.eu).

At the same time, we would like to inform parents whose children use the shuttle leaving from the CPE to Kirchberg at 18h00 that as of the 6 October 2014 (starting date for the extra-curricular activities), the bus will leave the CPE at 18h15 instead of 18h00 in order to wait for children attending the extra-curricular activities. For more information, please address your questions to the Transport association (ATSEE) in charge of the organisation of the school transport.

Thank you very much in advance for your cooperation and have a nice day.

Lenka Nýdrlová

Administrator of the CPE in Bertrange/Mamer

Dezember 3, 2013

Dear Mrs Sanchez Rodriguez, As a parent myself, I can assure you that I fully understand the concerns of parents over the safety of their children and regret that the information session OIL organised on 12 November did not allay these concerns in a satisfactory way.
